First step to set up a battery monitor

The first step is to make an actual measurement of the battery's amps. Before you do anything, We configure the capacity, If the battery is 200Ah we can put for example 250Ah, if it is from 100 We put it 150, Always a higher value.

Now we have 2 options, Fully discharge the battery up to 11.5v Yes, it is Lifepo4 o 12.00v Yes, it is Acid/Gel/AGM to set the monitor to 0 and measure during charging.

The other option is to fully charge it up to 14.6v, and measure until the voltage reaches the minimum voltage we have mentioned above.

This is done only once, Once we know the amps it has, We reconfigure 250 to the value he has given us, and whether it is full or empty we will only have to indicate to the monitor that it is at the 0% o 100% the rest will do it alone.

Discharge

Steps to set up the Tr16

  1. Press center button “SET” until it says AH on the screen
  2. Press it again and leave it like that until it flashes. At that time with the arrows we will put an amperage higher than that of the battery if it is of 100 we give for example 150.
  3. Click again to confirm the change.
  4. Press left arrow “V” for battery voltage to come out.
  5. When in voltage, press and hold down the central button “set” He will put 0.0 (or any other if it has already been modified previously)we set it to 11.5v and press SET again to confirm.
  6. Now it's time to discharge the battery to make a measurement. It would be to connect any consumption and discharge it up to 11.5v, You may not be able to keep an eye on it and it drops below 10.0V and the BMS turns off, If it happens once, nothing would happen, but it is not advisable to do it repetitively
  7. We polish the right arrow so that the % of the battery at that moment we press and leave arrow “left” and he will get to 0.0%. If you can't because he has cut the bms, the charger is connected for a second to be able to do so, Although as it had been previously configured to 11.5V in principle it is set to 0.0% He alone.
  8. Now it starts charging up to a voltage between 14.2 – 14.6v, If it is a Kepworth and it is done with the original charger it would be until the red LED changed to green.
  9. We repeat the step “1”, And here we will see how many amps have come in.
  10. We repeat the step “2” and we change the value we previously set to “real” that we have just measured.
  11. Now if we enter into % should mark 100% if it does not, we hold down the right arrow for a few seconds until it does so.

For TURN OFF THE SCREEN just press the 2 arrows at once.

Connections

1- “B-” to negative battery pole.
2- “P-” Here we connect everything that I had previously connected in the negative.
3- “B+ / Green Connector” with a thin wire and a fuse from 0.2/0.5ah to positive. If the fuse is larger “1ah”, You will need a cable thicker than 0.75mm minimum.

Clarification: If the connection is not made correctly 1 y 2 we will observe how the voltage rises or falls and will not mark the charge or discharge amperage. And if you use a battery with a side connector such as a kepworth, the charger must be modified so that it passes through the shunt, If it connects to the side it will not mark anything and will throw the measurement out of balance..
